Soldaten op JBLM gebruiken virtual reality training voor een SHARP-klas. Met de VR-simulatie kan men ingrijpen in scenario’s van seksuele intimidatie en aanranding en leren om elkaar te beschermen.
De SHARP VR-training wordt geladen op een Meta Quest 2 en produceert verschillende scenario’s, waardoor de soldaten kunnen reageren op verschillende ongepaste gedragingen op de werkplek, zoals ongewenste seksuele avances, seksuele gunsten en herhaalde opmerkingen.
Pfc. Jasmine Garcia, een vuurleidingsspecialist zei dat de VR-training haar kan helpen het vertrouwen op te bouwen om te reageren op tekenen van wangedrag en empathie te ontwikkelen voor het slachtoffer.
